Thanks for the chance with this giveaway Sara! One of my favourite books by an Aussie author is The Problem With Crazy by Lauren K McKellar. Fantastic YA contemporary story that will pull on your emotions. Happy Australia Day! :)
Thanks Sue – I’m reading all sorts of YA at the moment so this is perfect!
Ooh, how exciting! Thank you for the giveaway! I’m on a nostalgia-fuelled YA trip at present, so I’m saying anything by Brian Caswell. I love Merryll of the Stones, but right now, am finding that I mostly want to read Deucalion again…
I haven’t heard of any of these – thank you! So many books, so little time!
They came out in the 1980s and 1990s, I think – though I’ve just gone a-googling and discovered that there is a new, third book in the Deucalion series, so I know what book I’m buying next…
I’m always in awe of books that stand the test of time.
Hey Sara. Thanks so much for the opportunity to enter this great giveaway. You’re upcoming book sounds great. As for an Aussie book recommendation I highly recommend anything by Bronwyn Parry, Helene Young, Jaye Ford … she has a new book coming out in just over a week and writes a mean thriller. I haven’t read this one yet (obviously) but I’m really keen to read it once it’s released.
Hi Sarah! I’d love to win! I really enjoyed up and in by Brisbane author Deborah Disney. A hilarious read about school gate politics. Thanks!
In recognition of Australia Day I would highly recommend THE DAUGHTERS OF MARS by Tom Keneally.
That sounds great – thanks Kylie!
Thanks Mary – I’d love to read this one.
Thanks Jess – I really like Bronwyn Parry too, and Helene’s books always sound great, I just haven’t got to them yet. I still have Jaye’s last thriller high on my list, her blurbs are always sooo good. I need more reading time for sure!
Hello :-) thanks for the opportunity to enter. Currently re reading Lora Leigh’s Breed series about genetically modified humans with feline or wolf DNA.
Congrats on your new arrival! Not australian but i just finished reading counting by 7’s – its YA but so good!
Thanks for the opportunity to win, Sara! My favourite Australian read last year was Matthew Flinder’s Cat by Bryce Courtenay (my first Courtenay), but Fractured by Dawn Barker was a close second.

Hi Sara, happy Australia Day and wishing you all the best on your new release. I loved Shallow Breath by the way. My favourite Aussie read of last year was Palace of Tears by Julian Leatherdale, it made me fall in love with the Blue Mountains. it’s on my bucket list of places to visit :-)
Thank you Amanda – I’m thrilled to hear you loved Shallow Breath! I haven’t heard of Palace of Tears but I love majestic setting like the Blue Mountains – I will look it up!
Thanks Kathryn, I know you’re not alone in loving Matthew Flinder’s Cat – and Dawn Barker is a fantastic writer whom I’m lucky to count as a friend too! I’ll let her know about your comment, she’ll be thrilled!
Thanks Bec – I’ll look out for this – I’m doing lots of YA research at the moment :)
Thanks Diana – this sounds awesome!
Thanks for the giveaway, Sara. Currently reading Burial Rites. An interesting read.
Awesome to see a WA writer in the Australia Day Book Giveaway Blog Hop!! All the best with your new book :)
Happy australia day eve :)
I love reading and am so excited about this giveaway! I recently just finished Eliza Henry-Jones’ In The Quiet and it was a book I couldn’t put down. I loved the characters and it was a story that certainly tugged at my emotions.
Thanks Sarah – I’m reading The Quiet at the moment – such a beautifully written book and so original.
Thanks Paula – WA rocks :)
Thanks Dale – I saw Hannah Kent talking about Burial Rites at PWF a few years ago and her research was fascinating!
Hi Sara. Love your books and have just told the Pink Fibro Book Club so! Hoping to see you at your new book launch at PIAF (kids permitting) :) Would love to read it, so thanks for the entry :)
Hi Sara, thanks for the opportunity you have going here… I just wrapped up reading Thornwood House by Anna Romer, really enjoyed it, some wonderful descriptive pieces of bushland and rural landscapes :)
Wishing you all the very best with your new novel, must be awesome to see all your hard work come together and released into the world of readers. Have a great Australia Day.
Hi Sarah, I am just finishing Drink Smoke aNd Pass out by Judith Lucy. Funny, lighthearted tale of her journey through life and religion. Great Aussie humour at its best. Wishing you great success with your new offering.
Thank you Eleanor – you are a superstar for telling the Pink Fibro about my books! I hope you can make the launch – come and say hi if you do! Do you know it’s also family day, so kids are acceptable at UWA on that day – I might have mine there too ;)
Sounds lovely, thank you Nat!
Thank you Jenny – it certainly is a great feeling! Wishing you a great Australia Day too.
Thanks Robyn – I think I’ve read bits of Judith Lucy’s book – she’s great! Hope you are well.
Lighthouse Bay by Kimberley Freeman. I loved this book and it made me look things up, wondering where it was set and wanting to go and walk along the beach there!
Sounds fabulous Wendy – I love books that make you want to find out more! Thank you for the recommendation.
Love your work. Looking forward to reading your new book.
I’m currently reading Nicole Hurley-Moore’s “Hartley Grange” and loving every minute of this delightful rural romance.
The Country Practice by Meredith Appleyard is a wonderful book. Her female characters are strong females.
It’s good to see so many recommendations!
Hi Sara! This blog hopping is so much fun and a wonderful way to discover new authors and how lovely to discover you. My favourite genre of all is psychological suspense followed closely by rural romance/suspense romance. So I can’t wait to get my hands onto all of your books! There are many many books I could recommend but two are stand outs: Lily Malone’s Fairway to Heaven, the ending (before the epilogue) just blew me away and her style of writing is just lovely and feel good. And June Loves’ The Shelly Beach Writers Club, the first few pages… Read more »
Hi Sara have read all of your books and love them so thank you for the opportunity. I usually prefer to promote Australian authors so one of the books I read last year was Tricia Stringer’s ‘Heart of the Country’, an historical story set in the Flinders Ranges. It is the first in a series and I really enjoyed it. I must say that I also read Rosamund Lupton’s ‘Quality of Silence’ and it is still staying with me, not to be missed -such a good read.
Thanks Kris!
Haven’t heard of this one – it sounds like fabulous escapism!
Thanks Ann-Marie – I love strong female characters!
I agree Stacey – we all need to take a long vacation to read them all now!
What a wonderful list – thank you Sue! If your favourite genre is psychological suspense I really hope you enjoy my novels. Funnily enough I edited The Shelley Beach Writers Club – and it was such a lovely book. I didn’t know there was a sequel so thank you! I love your list of authors – lots on there that I love and a few I haven’t got to yet, but will! Thanks again for your great response.
Hi Delores, great to hear from you! Thanks for both recommendations – I haven’t read Tricia Stringer and I love Rosamund Lupton and didn’t realise that book was out there (I’m probably behind the times) so I will go and look for it. Thank you!
I would love to win this and as an avid reader I would love to start an Australian
authors collection. I have just been introduced to Judy Nunn and will start her book, hopefully after I win this. First though I must finish my current read, Gaddafi’s Harem. Not a happy subject but intriguing at how society can get things so wrong when people fear those in power. Am looking forward to reading all your books this year.
