  • I’ve had such a fabulous time in Sydney and the Blue Mountains over the last couple of days! Thank you to everyone who came to my events, to Oberon Library (especially Rhiannon for hosting), @booksplusbathurst (loved chatting to you, Sam!) and @betterreadbookshop for the events, to Nicola and Zara from @harpercollinsaustralia for taking me out and about, and @taracpwynne for being all round awesome. I also recorded an authors on authors interview with my lovely mate @pipdrysdale at @betterreadingau which I can’t wait to share with you all soon - and loved meeting the team there (thanks for making the process so easy and fun)! And you can now find signed copies in @dymockssydney (George St) @kinokuniya_sydney @abbeysbookshop @constantreaderbookshop and @harryhartog.mosman ❤️📚❤️📚❤️
  • How I will treasure this photo - full of rockstar authors who were kind enough to come and help me celebrate the launch of When She Was Gone. There was such warmth and generosity in the room last night at @betterreadbookshop and it was brilliant to finally meet so many authors I have admired for years! Thank you so, so much 🙏🏻 this was truly special xx

Also a huge thank you to @anna_downes_writer for doing an amazing in convo straight after a big night at the ABIAs! Her book Red River Road is an incredible thriller set along WA’s Coral Coast and was shortlisted for general fiction book of the year 🎉 I LOVED it - it’s an intense and twisty psychological thriller and if you haven’t read it yet then I promise you’ll devour it!

And finally a massive thank you to my publisher @annavaldinger for coming along on the back of the ABIAs too, it was brilliant to have you there ❤️❤️ To @ghostspecies - loved catching up with you! And @storytellerevents_alexandra - great to meet you!

  • @dranitaheiss got in another 5 quick questions for each other after our event last night! 😜
  • Thank you to everyone who came along to AH Bracks Library last night for the loveliest event with @dranitaheiss - Anita is an incredible speaker and all round champion, and it was a true privilege to be part of this event with her. Thanks also to @lorrainehorsleyauthor for a fab in-conversation and to all who helped organise, as well as everyone in the fantastic and warm audience as you made us feel so welcome!
  • Super special event tomorrow night with @dranitaheiss - we’ll be in convo about both our books with Lorraine Horsley. Anita has been an incredible support to me over the years and I did my very first speaking event on a panel with her and the lovely Liz Byrski so it’s always super special to do another event with Anita! And her novel Dirrayawadha is truly special. Come and join us tomorrow evening at AH Bracks Library - ticket links in stories and on my website.
  • What’s got authors talking this month? My monthly round-up is out now on The Resilient Author and we’re talking AI scandals (bye NaNoWriMo), arts funding/policy (what can we ask the government to do to support creatives) and authors doing good things (nearly $40,000 has been raised to support Palestinian aid efforts and there's a new auction coming next week).

From next month, my Author Notes will be a paid subscriber feature so ensure you’ve signed up (only $5 a month) to keep abreast of industry news and my exclusive writing resources and content.

  • This one’s for @antheahodgson - who is the first person I’ve met who knew what I was talking about when I mentioned loving this series as a kid! I still have this copy. Anyone else remember Sue Barton?! Not sure I know why Sue is side-eyeing the doc so suggestively though - perhaps it’s steamier than I remember?! 😜
  • I loved chatting to readers last night at the Naber Bar in Leederville - a brilliant event hosted by @boundlessbooks.au ❤️🎉📚 Thanks to everyone who came along! It was also such a joy to visit this brand-new bookshop afterwards - if you’re in Perth go check it out! And thanks to the mum and daughter who came in too with such lovely things to say about my books - you made my night even more lovely ❤️🙏🏻
  • What exactly is ‘femme-forward fiction’? It's such a good fit for my books, but can it replace the term ‘feminist’? I ask for your thoughts on this complex social (and marketing!) issue in this week's Story Matters post for readers. PLUS Join me for an exclusive chat on the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale! Check the usual places in my profile to read this one 😉
